Obstacles occur for everyone and can present themselves in many ways. For Creatives, navigating through these unforeseen obstacles often interferes with time dedicated to their crafts. 23-year-old George Baker from Kansas City, Kansas, is the owner of KcShoeDoctor, a business specializing in Shoe Restoration and Customization. Baker has been working on shoes for years but didn’t make his business official until August 2021. KcShoeDoctor has run smoothly since then, but not without a few bumps in the road along the way. Loneliness, depression, and the transition into adulthood are all struggles Baker juggled daily. Staying patient and devoted to improving even a little bit every day has helped George break through any barrier that stood in his way before.
“I’m not going to rush anything so I’m just going to continue to stay patient and move at God’s will. I WILL reach the next level by continuing to remain humble, showing genuine love to others, having faith in God, being consistent, and surrounding myself with the right people. Proverbs 3:5-6 ‘Trust in the Lord with all thine heart: and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.’”—George Baker
Following the path that George’s faith leads him has gifted him many opportunities and learning experiences. He’s connected and learned from creators like Dace customs, Darionn Billberry Sr, Brent Walker, Vick almighty, Kick Revive, Trey Ward, and Jack Palino. Eventually, George sees himself working alongside every Shoe Customizer and Restorationalist in Kansas City. Despite already owning an office space, George states the location is temporary, and he has much more in mind for KcShoeDoctor. His end goal for the business would be to own a storefront where people can come in and have their shoes restored right there on the spot, something we see happening very soon. “‘You want something you never had you gotta do something you ain’t never did, its grind time man and I like n— to be on my a— sometimes man.’ – GHerbo feat. Lil Baby x Tired.” We’re excited to watch the business grow. Always move #CloserToYourDreams
